What do Kim Potter and Rogel Aguilera-Mederos have in common? They are both going to jail for accidents…
Kim Potter, as you might know is the police officer who confused her taser for her gun and accidentally shot and killed Daunte Wright. There is no question it was an accident, even the prosecutors admitted it, but they still convicted her of first degree manslaughter. This is an example of even if it’s an accident, you still are culpable.
Rogel Aguilera-Medeors was a truck drive in Colorado whose brakes failed. According to the Denver Post
“Aguilera-Mederos lost his brakes while traveling into Denver on Interstate 70 on April 25, 2019. He failed to take a runaway truck ramp before he rammed his speeding semi into stopped traffic under an overpass in Lakewood and caused a 28-car pileup. Six people were injured in the crash and four people died”
Originally sentenced to 110 years in prison, the Colorado governor reduced his sentence to 10 years saying “You were sentenced to 110 years in prison, effectively more than a life sentence, for a tragic but unintentional act,”
What we have established in just the last month is evidence that even if you don’t intend to hurt or kill somebody, if you do, you are responsible and must suffer the consequences.
So what are we going to do with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)? With over 800,000 Americans dead from Covid in the last two years why are we letting China off Scott free?
There are two competing theories as to the origin of the virus. The first is that it developed naturally in nature, in bats or pangolins. The second is that it was developed and perfected in a lab in Wuhan China. It’s beyond the scope of this article to debate which is correct. Once detected in China, the CCP shut down travel to and from Wuhan but did not shut down international travel.  They did little to warn the rest of the world. In fact, given that they cornered the market on PPE very early on, you could argue they knew exactly what was happening.
So, we know for a fact that the virus originated in Wuhan, China and it’s debatable whether it was released intentionally or accidentally. But, for the sake of argument, let’s assume it was accidentally. This is where the parallel to Kim Potter and Rogel Aguilera-Mederos comes into play. If we are going to impose severe prison sentences on people who accidentally cause the loss of life, why are we letting the CCP off so lightly? Why is there no public outcry to make them pay? Where are our elected politicians when we need them?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Let freedom ring!
