AFFORDABILITY – the Dems campaigned on it and they won.  Now they own it.  While I have wondered about the integrity of our election system, the election outcomes across the country were quite consistent.  Major losses at all levels of government from Governor to State Legislators and especially our Federal Legislators in both the Senate and the House, now under the clear mandate with the Dems.

So, the Dems now have an obligation to tell us how they will make things more AFFORDABLE.  This was obviously the critical issue that swayed voters with the costs related to supporting two wars, increasing costs of healthcare, the near doubling of gas at the pump, and many basic items in the supermarket along with the increasing price tags on homes and cars, new or used.

What strategy will the Dems use to reverse this AFFORDABILITY issue.  Dems are already on day one promoting Medicare for All, ending the two wars and increasing taxes.  Unless you are totally uninformed, Medicare for All (which would eliminate personal health insurance with 54% currently paid through employer-based programs) is estimated by the CBO to increase federal spending by $1.5 to $3 Trillion a year.  The ending of our support for wars in Ukraine and Iran that both compromise our national security are unlikely to reduce our defense costs that are still making up for lack of funding by the Obama and Biden administrations.  And the increase in taxes, which reduces the net income to all working households, all lead to less money in citizens pockets and bigger government budgets to spend on more, big government programs.  How exactly does that improve AFFORDABILITY?

We can analyze why the cost of living has spiraled out of control like the record-breaking inflationary policies of the Biden administration, the impact of a record-breaking federal deficit (kicked off with Obama’s eight years going from $10.6 T to $19.9T) where interest payments alone now exceed the Defense Department budget, and the record-breaking increase in health care since Obama Care passed by one vote (thank you John McCain).  Republicans share some of the blame as well, but the Dems are the ones rallying for AFFORDABILITY.  Republicans are trying to figure out how to reduce the cost of government especially fraud and how to increase the revenues to pay for the increasing social welfare programs mostly instituted by the Dems which now accounts for 52 % of the federal budget ($3.653Trillion).

Our conservative politicians are not messaging their most poignant positions (low taxes, low regulation, energy independence that lowers energy costs, and merit-based performance vs. DEI that leads to higher productivity) that have proven to generate affordability or are not being heard.  Either way, We The People need to be looking for ways to make sure our questions get asked of the Dems now in power.  Let’s start with “how do you plan to address the AFFORDABILITY issue with Americans?  For every policy they promote, how does that address the AFFORDABILITY issue?

We can keep it simple (just as they do).  We need to get their attention and be heard.  No statements, just questions.  Maybe only one question – How does that policy make life more AFFORDABLE for the American people?

Join me in taking action – simple action – to put the Dems to the ultimate test in delivering on their promise of AFFORDABILITY.  We in New Hampshire lost our state Republican legislature to the Dems in this election with only a Republican Governor left who has no veto power.  So, we can start with our local and state legislators just raising the question – how does that address the AFFORDABILITY issue???
